Hello everyone! I know, it's been a long time since I've posted much about knitting. Maybe I can try and catch up with last year's FOs this month...
My So Called Scarf / Wildflowers Scarf
I bought the yarn back in May after falling in love with it at Purl and, yes, becoming slightly obsessed with it. The colorway is so pretty, although for some reason in my mind it was a little more green.
I don't even really remember now I how hit on the idea of My So Called Scarf, and it's hardly an imaginative choice given that the pattern uses this exact same yarn and colorway! I think I saw the scarf when I was stalking Manos on flickr and then in September as I was starting to think about gift knitting for the holidays decided to make one for my fifteen year old niece.
This was a fun knit - relatively easy, but the stitch pattern is interesting enough to keep your attention (and somewhat punishing if you let your attention wander - I had to rip back more often than I would care to admit). I've had a lot of doctor's appointments lately and this scarf proved good waiting room knitting, plus with the bulky yarn and large needle size, it went pretty quickly. I think I finished knitting within 5 or 6 weeks but I put off the finishing until, well, until Christmas Eve, the day I was due to give the gift. Therefore the tassles were rather hurriedly added (and photographed) amidst a flurry of other finishing and wrapping, but the gift was well received and looked good on my niece.
