Well, we're not going ahead with adding the bathroom just yet, but we did just today execute the Big Switcheroo we've been talking about for, well, years, although only more seriously in the past few months - the former office is now the fitness room, and the former fitness room is ready to be converted into the baby's room! I've spent the last few weeks going through and throwing out a LOT of stuff but there still seems to be a lot of stuff left (especially to my husband...!) Files and bookshelves remain in the fitness room, but I now have a new home workspace in the "front room." Knitting will still take place downstairs in the living room!
It's all very exciting and it's a big step towards having things ready for February. I'm glad the "clean out the office" part is pretty much done... (there's still some filing and odds and ends to complete) as that has been my focus for the past few weeks and let me tell you, it is BORING!!! And there hasn't been much of a payoff until today, but of course it is all worth it. There's still quite a bit we want to get done around the house but this was a major step today.
In knitting news, well, I think I may have intimidated myself with the
brooklyntweed workshop because now I feel self-conscious about posting any "old style" photos... it's a lot of pressure to show improvement! I finished the medium giraffe (so I now have a family of three) and I'm making good if slow progress on the tomten jacket - I finished the hood and am now working on the arms. My mother asked what she could knit the baby so I requested the
fish blanket that I have long admired (
this is one of my favorites). All the blankets I am knitting were started before a) we knew we were having a boy and b) before we decided on the nursery decor - this blanket, however, is going to fit right in! I picked out a few colors of
Tahki Cotton Classic and I can't wait to see how it comes out! My parents visited earlier in the month so I saw the first fish, but now they won't be back until right before my due date so it will be something of a surprise - I can't wait! Oh yeah, I totally geeked out and drew up the tessellating fish pattern in CAD, then imported it into photoshop to play with colors to figure out the layout I wanted!!!
In baby news, I am a couple of weeks into the third trimester now and all continues to go well. The baby continues to be pretty active and I recently noticed that if I look at my tummy at the right time, I can see the baby moving! It's pretty mind-blowing. And then of course I realized that my husband can probably feel start to feel movement if I time it right, and right on thanksgiving, the baby started kicking so I put his hand on my stomach, not sure if the baby would keep on moving but he received a good hard kick!!! The look on his face was priceless... he was totally shocked and startled! I can't really blame him... I'm still having a hard time getting my mind around the concept that there's a BABY in there!
Well, I'm not sure when I'll be able to get back to blogging a bit more about knitting but I hope you all hang in there with me. I'll try to pop up with an update every so often, even if there's not much knitting to report...
